Monthly Client Progress Recap
As a Thesis coach it is our job to hold clients accountable to the goal they have come to us to achieve. Monthly Client Progress Recaps allow for a summation of the work done and progress made over the last month as a Thesis client.
A Monthly Client Progress Recap should include:
- Restatement of the Goal. As goals can naturally evolve over time, revisiting the goal ensures that both the coach and the client remain focused and aligned. Given the constant communication with the client throughout the month you should have a good idea if their original goal has shifted. Any changes in trajectory should be clarified in the recap, ensuring both coach and client are on the same page moving forward. Additionally, this provides an opportunity to celebrate milestones reached.
- Progress Metrics. This will be dependent on the client's individual goal, however it is safe to assume that the majority of clients will be seeking for weight loss or body composition changes. Supply a snapshot of weight and/or body composition from the beginning and end of the month. Calculate their rate of change, and speed of their progress in order to provide insight as to whether, or not, they are on track to hit their goal within the agreed upon timeline. Additionally, before and after photos may be attached here.
- Training Successes. Resistance training is difficult, therefore any progress made in the gym — such as weight lifted, range of motion gained, sessions completed, overall volume attained, or even more subjective matters of simply feeling better — can be used as part of the recap and a motivational tool.
- Tips & Recommendations. Based on the month's progress and any challenges faced, offering 2-3 specific tips can help address areas of struggle. These tips can be related to training, nutrition, recovery, or even mindset. Even if these tips echo previous advice, repetition can reinforce their importance. It's also an opportunity to introduce new strategies or tools that might benefit the client.
- Feedback. Encourage the client to share their reflections on the past month. What did they find challenging? What felt like a win? This two-way communication ensures that the coaching process remains collaborative and tailored to the client's experience.
